Union Avenue is the heart of old Pueblo. The El Pueblo Historic Museum and Archaelogical Site is located just across the street from City Hall, the Vail Hotel, and the Convention Center. The renewal of the area began in the 1980's and has steadily improved with each passing year. There are historic buildings which have been renovated for shopping and restaurants and spacious apartment living. The Riverwalk flows under the Union Avenue Bridge which is lined by all the flags of the various political entities that once claimed title to one side of the river or the other.
